Panto time in Rugby? Oh yes it is!

PANTO comes to the stage at Rugby Theatre this week – oh yes it does!

Jack and the Beanstalk runs from Friday (January 8) to Sunday January 17 at the Henry Street venue.

Writer and director Mike Allen has brought together a mix of new talent and old favourites for this year’s pantomime.

And he’s also introducing a special guest star – Rugby FM DJ Jason Moss, who is playing the Voice of the Giant.

Mike said the team had had a great time putting the show together.

He said: “We have a new musical director in Jo Bewick, while Sophie Pulley – who has been connected with the theatre since she was a young girl – is choreographing the show.

“It’s her first time in charge of dancing for Sophie, but she’s done a great job getting everyone moving.

“On stage, the cast is led by Michele Goode as Jack Trot – regular theatre-goers might know her better as Michele Marsella. Her new husband, Max Goode, is also among the cast as Dolly, the Giant’s daughter.”

Steve Bradnam is back again to play Dame Trot, Natalie Gibson is Billy Trot, while Christopher Allen-Mason and Hayden Harvey are comedy duo Dreadful and Worse.

Mike added: “This year, all the sets have been designed and hand-built by our hard-working scenic and stage management team.

“It’s remarkable what they can put together – and they are all volunteers. not professional set builders. And they’ve had to do it all without the help of our dear friend and special effects expert Dick Walsingham, who sadly died in November.

“The costumes will be spectacular too – and there will be lots for the audience to get involved with, booing, cheering and hissing the evil Fleshcreep the Witch.”

Tickets are available from the Rugby Theatre box office at www.rugbytheatre.co.uk or on 01788 541234.
