AN EXHIBITION combining photography with organic sculptures opens at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum on Saturday (October 3).
The ‘Incunabula’ exhibition features new works by Stretton-On-Dunsmore based contemporary artist Tammy Woodrow – who has previously exhibited at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum in Coventry and Leamington Spa Art Gallery and Museum, as well as curating many local exhibitions.
Historically, ‘incunabula’ translates in Latin as infancy or cradle, and Tammy was inspired by this word to make works that made her think of memories of her mother.
The wood from her sculptures came from a tree with sentimental value to the artist, and she combined this material with found metal objects.
She said: “This is a very exciting way to work for me whilst juggling lots of new ideas. I never know what sculpture will be revealed at the end of this intuitive method of working. I hope everybody will enjoy this exhibition.”
A private view takes place on Saturday (October 3) from 11-3pm. Everybody is welcome, refreshments available. All works are for sale.
The exhibition runs until Thursday October 15. Visit tammywoodrow.jimdo.com for more information about the artist.
