Young Rugby voices tune up for concert

Rugby Editorial 8th Jul, 2015 Updated: 27th Oct, 2016   0

RISING stars will perform songs from the West End, movies and the charts at a special fully-seated concert in The Ballroom at Arnold House, Elsee Road, on Saturday (July 11), starting at 7.30pm.

The Strawhouse Singers, featuring some of the best young voices in Rugby and the surrounding counties, will be joined on the bill by the Big Help Academy and national stars from singing competitions Teenstar and Open Mic UK.

Also performing will be The Invisible Friends, a new national vocal group made up of people with ‘invisible’ disabilities, and a surprise guest act.

Big Help Management’s Creative Director Nicky Stewart said: “We created The Strawhouse Singers two years ago especially for the Festival of Culture – to offer an opportunity to young people in Rugby who wanted to sing.

“Their progress has exceeded all our expectations and we are very proud of our young singers. They have become great ambassadors for Rugby – as they perform regularly in other towns and cities – and at music festivals.

“We always welcome new visitors to our shows and we are very proud to be taking part in the Festival of Culture again this year.”

Entry to the event, hosted by TV presenter Laura Alexander, costs £12 in advance or £15 on the door.
