A ‘GOOD Samaritan’ had a brick hurled at his head, fracturing his skull – just for trying to help a woman in an argument.

The man was assaulted outside the Holly Bush pub at the junction of Lawford Road and New Street on Friday night (September 16).

Some time between 10.30pm and 11.30pm, a 29-year-old man intervened in a dispute between another man and a woman, with the intention of helping her.

The second man ran off along New Street, leaving the woman behind, but then returned with a brick which he threw at the first man causing a fractured skull and facial cut.

The offender is described as a white man, 18-20 years old, about 5ft 8ins tall, slim build with short dark or ginger coloured hair. He was wearing grey tracksuit trousers and was bare chested.

The woman with him is described as white, 17-18 years old, shorter than the man with long dark hair.

She had been joined by three other women who shouted abuse at the victim before he was assaulted.

DC Stephen Hill said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident, or can help us identify any of the people involved.

“The victim, who had been trying to help someone, was abused and suffered serious injuries which he did not deserve. We would welcome any information which will help us bring those responsible to justice.”

Call Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting incident 536 of September 16.
