A PRESTIGIOUS award has been won by a Rugby park for the eighth year in a row.

Caldecott Park won the prestigious Green Flag Award for the Midlands and East of England at a ceremony at the Benn Hall.

Rugby Borough Council environment spokeswoman Coun Lisa Parker said: “I’m delighted Caldecott Park has secured a Green Flag Award for an eighth year running.

“It’s a great tribute to the hard work of our parks team, volunteers and residents, who all play a part in making Caldecott Park a place we can be proud of.

“We were also honoured to host the award ceremony at the Benn Hall, welcoming dozens of other Green Flag Award winners from across the Midlands and East of England to Rugby.”

The awards, organised by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, aim to raise standards in parks and green spaces across the country, promoting well-maintained and well-managed parks with excellent facilities.

Judges assess each park put forward for the award against eight strict criteria, including horticultural standards, cleanliness, sustainability and community involvement.
