LEAKY roofs will be a thing of the past when the Clock Towers Shopping Centre gets a revamp over the next 18 months.
The centre’s new owners CT Properties, who bought it last year, say they are making a ‘significant investment’ to upgrade the mall.
The roof over the most notorious area for flooding in the centre – near Poundland – has already been repaired, with the rest due to be replaced during the summer.
New disability-compliant ‘pay on foot’ machines that allow chip-and-pin card payments have already been installed in the car park.
From June, work will begin to update and replace all the lifts, new CCTV cameras will be installed, car park lighting will be improved, and free WiFi will go online.
And next year the centre will get revamped entrances in Market Place and North Street, brand new granite flooring, new street furniture and large multimedia digital screens.
Centre Manager Robin Swift said: “This is an exciting time for Clock Towers Shopping Centre and a great opportunity for the town and community of Rugby.
“The Centre has been in need of a little TLC for some time now and we’re so pleased to see that the new owners are not only doing those necessary fixes but want to go above and beyond to give the entire Centre a completely new, modernised look and feel.
“I genuinely believe this will have a great impact on the centre of Rugby as a shopping destination and can’t wait to see the end result.”
