QUEUES snaked around Elliott’s Field Retail Park on Wednesday (November 18) for the grand openings of both Nando’s and Marks and Spencer’s new Rugby superstore.

M&S Store Manager Charlotte Hayes cut the ribbon alongside Chairman Robert Swannell and the store team.

The 42,000 sq ft. store features womenswear, menswear, kidswear, lingerie, beauty, a food hall, a bakery and a café.

Charlotte said: “We were thrilled to open our doors this morning. It was extremely exciting for us to see crowds of shoppers at the opening, all eager to check out what the new store has to offer.

Rugby resident Amy Lewis said: “I was really keen on being one of the first shoppers in store today as I love M&S. The store is looking fantastic and I’m really pleased we’ve now got a much bigger food hall in Rugby. I’m looking forward to shopping here in the future.”

Nando’s also opened its first ever Rugby branch – a 156 seat restaurant dealing in spicy chicken which has created 38 new jobs.

Stephen Geach, Regional Managing Director, said: “We can’t wait to bring a taste of peri-peri chicken to Rugby as we open our first Nando’s in the town.

“Elliott’s Field Retail Park is a fantastic location and the team is fired up to welcome locals and visitors alike.”

Observer photographer Jon Mullis went along for an early peek at Rugby’s newest stores.
