RUGBY’s Sam Ruddock has expressed his disappointment after missing out on a medal at the Rio Olympics.
The 26-year-old made it through to Monday evening’s final of the F35 shot put but his best throw of 12.70m was enough to secure sixth.
China’s Fu Xinhan won gold with a distance of 15.19, silver went to Argentina’s Hernan Emanuel Urra with 14.91m and Latvian Edgars Bergs went home with bronze after throwing 14.55m.
Ruddock tweeted: “Thanks for support & love, guys. I’ll learn from this. Setback equals comeback! Obrigado, Rio! #Paralympics.”
Former Rugby School student Ruddock had headed to his second Paralympic Games with high expectations having thrown a personal best of 13.75m in Doha last year and having won silver at the IPC European Championships back in June.
