WARWICKSHIRE duo Nick Skelton and Robert Smith have been honoured at this year’s annual British Showjumping Awards in Solihull.
Olympic individual gold Medallist Skelton won the British Showjumping Award for his heroics in Rio while Smith was crowned National Champion.
The evening saw in excess of 400 guests celebrate with the extremely worthy nominees and winners from grass roots competitors through to those that achieved podium success at the Rio Olympic Games this summer.
Other winners included Skelton’s groom Mark Beever who walked away with the Top Level Team Grooms Award, while Oxfordshire’s Tim Wilks is one to watch out for after winning the Leading Young Rider of the Year award Gary & Beverley Widdowson’s Big Star was named Horse of the Year.
