Winning start for new dad Mark Cossar in Herefordshire

THE ADDED pressure of becoming a father has not detered Rugby’s Mark Cossar after he began the new race season in style with a victory in Herefordshire.

The 30-year-old became a father during the winter break but he refused to let those late nights get in the way of his performance at the Ledbury Leader event over the weekend.

Cossar fought off a strong challenge in the heats against eventual runner-up Myles Simmons, overtaking his rival on the second lap, but powered away to victory when the pair met again in the final.

Ably assisted by his passenger Carl Blyth, Cossar showed no signs of race rust after the close season and recorded fast times throughout the event.

Gareth Williams, also from Rugby, finished in fifth as passenger to Birmingham’s Matt Fumarola, whilst Pete Lloyd from Marton captured a place on the podium after finishing third overall with his passenger Ricky Pay.
