Donation helps youth club give young carers a break

A YOUTH club in Rugby can continue providing a break for young carers in the town thanks to a donation from local Masons.

The Bradby Club gratefully accepted the £2,300 donation, which will fund activities put on for young carers at the club.

Gerry Logue, Worshipful Mastee and founder member of Collegiate Masonic Lodge in Coventry, presented the donation, which was raised by members of the Warwickshire Provincial Masonic Lodge and the St Philip’s Masonic Lodge.

Club Trustee Alison Ross said: “We were pleased that the cheques were presented during a young carers session, so that Mr Logue could meet up with the young people and see some of the ways in which the money is spent.

“The donation will be a tremendous help in paying towards the weekly sessions of young carers who meet on a Tuesday afternoon on alternate weeks – juniors aged from 6-11 and seniors aged fro 12-17.

“They take part in a variety of activities – and on this particular afternoon they were busy making blackberry and apple crumbles.

“The Masons’ donation makes a tremendous difference by expanding the activities we can arrange for the young people.

“The Club is extremely grateful to both Masonic Lodges for their generosity.”
