TENDAI Daire’s first-half goal helped Rugby Borough return to winning ways with a 1-0 victory away at Sutton Coldfield Town.
Daire scored the game’s only goal just past the half-hour mark at Coles Lane as Borough ended a run of three games without a win.
The result means Rugby sit third in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, three points behind leaders Belper Town who have a game in-hand.
Sutton spurned a glorious chance to break the deadlock on 11 minutes after Luke Rowe’s challenge in the box led the referee awarding the home side a penalty.
However, James McGrady blazed the resulting spot kick high over the crossbar as the scores remained level.
And Borough made Sutton pay on 32 minutes when Daire latched onto a through ball and coolly finished under advancing Sutton stopper James Beeson.
Rugby are next in action against Lichfield City on Saturday, October 25 with kick-off at 3pm at Kilsby Lane.
