Former Chief Constable to appear in court on fraud and misconduct charges

THE FORMER Chief Constable of Northamptonshire Police will appear in court next month charged with fraud and misconduct in a public office.

Constable Nick Adderley, 59, has been charged by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in relation to false claims he allegedly made in his job application and CV when he applied to join the force as Chief Constable in 2018.

The charge comes following a lengthy investigation by the CPS and the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

Constable Adderley was sacked at a Gross Misconduct Hearing in Northampton in June 2024 after being suspended from the Force in October 2023.

It followed allegations that he had lied about his naval career, including a claim he had served in the Falklands War despite the fact he was only 15 at the time.

He faces a charge of fraud under Section 1 of the Fraud Act 2006, and a further charge of Misconduct in a Public Office.

He will appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday November 10.
