RUGBY Town saw their four-game winning run come to an end following a 3-1 defeat away at Bourne Town.
A goal from Caine Elliott drew Valley level after the break only for the home side to strike twice more without reply at Abbey Lawn.
Zac Allen put Bourne ahead and also completed the scoring after Aaron Eyett put the hosts back in front on the hour mark.
The result means Rugby sit 11th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, four points outside of the play-off places, as the club’s six-game unbeaten run came to an end.
Valley goalkeeper Marcus Bald made two stunning saves early on which included a fine point-blank reaction stop to deny Lewis Darlington.
Bourne shot-stopper Will Lakin made a couple of crucial saves of his own at the other end to keep out both Stan Anaebonam and then Cairo Taylor.
The home side broke the deadlock on 31 minutes when Allen’s deft first time finish found the corner of the net from Connor Furey’s cutback.
However, Valley drew level one minute after the break as Elliott curled a shot into the net from just outside the penalty area.
Bourne reclaimed the lead on 60 minutes when Eyett scrambled the ball home following some pinball in the Rugby box.
And the home side sealed the points on 72 minutes as Allen produced a confident finish past Bald from substitute Jordan O’Brien’s through ball.
Rugby are next in action against St Neots Town on Saturday, November 15 with kick-off at 3.03pm at Butlin Road.
