‘WONDERFUL’ books donated to a Rugby primary school will boost its campaign against bullying and discrimination.

Housebuilder Barratt Homes has donated a collection of books to Bilton C of E Junior School during Anti-Bullying Week.

The donation includes a range of books by Usborne Publishing, which aims to support children’s mental health.

Founded by Anti-Bullying Alliance, Anti-Bullying Week encourages the discussion of the stigma around bullying.

This year’s theme is ‘Power for Good’, following a consultation with teachers and children who wanted a theme that empowered them to do something positive in the face of bullying.

Among the books donated were titles including ‘The Unworry Book’ by Alice James, ‘Why should I say Sorry’ by Rose Hall, and ‘Friendship Survival Guide’ by Caroline Young.

Rebecca Ross, Head of School at Bilton C of E Junior School, said: “We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Barratt Homes for the generous donation of books. These wonderful books will be invaluable in supporting our ongoing campaign of zero tolerance towards bullying and discrimination.

“This year’s theme for Anti Bullying Week, ‘Power for Good,’ inspires us all to take positive action and promote kindness, understanding, and respect within our community. Thank you once again to Barratt Homes for helping us empower our children to be a power for good.”

Many of the books include interactive features to help the children express their feelings and relieve anxiety.

Kerry Mullen of Barratt Homes said: “We hope that these books will encourage pupils at Bilton C of E Junior School to consider their own mental health, and the feelings of their peers in the playground and in everyday life.

“Anti-Bullying Week is an initiative we are proud to support, and we delighted to help local schools within our community with tools to help stop bullying.”
