RIDERS will be jumping in the saddle for the Kenilworth Boxing Day Cyclocross on Boxing Day.

The day’s racing programme opens with an Under-12s race, providing young riders with the opportunity to compete on an amazing circuit in the Common. The main race takes place at midday, which attracts experienced competitors from across the country and delivers high-intensity cyclocross racing over a demanding on and off-road course.

A defining feature of the course is the climb up Common Lane, which riders must tackle on every lap, creating a decisive point in the race and offering spectators a clear view of the physical demands of cyclocross competition.

To enable the safe delivery of the event, Common Lane will be closed to traffic for a limited period on Boxing Day. Traffic management and event marshals will be in place, with access maintained for residents where possible.

The event is supported by headline sponsors EweMove Estate Agents Kenilworth and local shop Mike Vaughan Cycles.

Matthew Clinton, Director at EweMove Estate Agents Kenilworth, said: “Having ridden the Boxing Day Cyclocross myself, I know what a demanding and well-organised event it is. EweMove was proud to support the race last year, and we’re delighted to continue that support for an event that brings together competitive sport, the local community and a long-standing Kenilworth tradition.”

Mike Vaughan, owner of Mike Vaughan Cycles, added: “The Kenilworth Boxing Day Cyclocross is always a highlight of the season. As someone who has raced it in the past, I know how much the Common Lane climb shapes the race. It’s great to be involved in supporting an event that showcases the sport so well and encourages riders of all ages to take part.”
