RUGBY Town made a losing start to the New Year after slipping to a 1-0 defeat away at Shepshed Dynamo.
The game’s only goal came on 17 minutes when Jesse Friend found the net to settle the contest at the Dovecote Stadium.
And the result means Rugby sit 17th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, two points clear of the relegation zone.
The game’s solitary goal arrived just past the quarter-hour mark with Marcus Bald only able to parry Jude Collins’ shot as Friend pounced to strike from close range.
Rugby are next in action against Belper Town on Saturday, January 10 with kick-off at 3pm at Butlin Road.
