A KIND and creative kid has used her crocheting skills to help a family charity’s annual fund-raising appeal.
Freya, 11, has lovingly crocheted a snowdrop-themed axolotl which is now at the centre of a heartwarming fund-raising activity for Home-Start South Leicestershire.
The charity, which helps families with young children in the Lutterworth area, is inviting the community to guess the axolotl’s name for a minimum £2 donation towards its yearly Snowdrop Appeal.
Freya said: “I spend a lot of time crocheting at home and wanted to use my hobby to help other children and make them smile.
“A little boy at my old primary school asked me to make an axolotl so I made up my own pattern; I was really pleased with how it turned out so I have made a few more.
“Axolotls are very cute and smiley amphibians and lots of children love them, so I thought this would be a good thing to do for a charity that helps children.”

Snowdrop-themed greetings cards are raising money for the appeal.
Supporters can also support the appeal by buying packs of snowdrop-themed greetings cards at Northamptonshire’s Lamport Hall during this weekend’s Snowdrop Walks, or at local businesses in South Leicestershire.
