ROB O’Connor made a winning start to the new cycling season with victory in a circuit race in Ashbourne, Derbyshire.

The Rugby cyclist picked up where he left off following a successful 2025 season at Darley Moor.

He made an aggressive start to the one-hour long race which included an extra five laps.

However, several new riders had moved up to the 65 to 69-year-old category and refused to let O’Connor break away.

O’Connor attempted to sprint clear with five laps remaining and the move paid off as he took the race win from Steve Davis.

The Rugby cyclist has a full season of road cycling planned with the UCI Masters Track World Championships in October his main priority.

The event takes place in London later this year with O’Connor invited to ride for Great Britain at the prestigious competition.
