RUGBY Borough need just one more point to guarantee safety following a 1-1 draw against AFC Rushden and Diamonds.
The two teams traded early goals as Joziah Barnett put the Diamonds ahead at Hayden Road only for Tyrell Waite to quickly restore parity for the visitors.
And the result means Borough sit six points clear of the Northern Premier League Midlands relegation zone with two matches left to play.
Rushden took the lead after just 10 minutes as Barnett powered a header into the bottom corner from Freddie Finlay’s delicate cross into the box.
However, Rugby drew level just three minutes later when Waite scored from the penalty spot despite Rushden stopper Ben Heath guessing the right way.
Borough travel to Basford United on Saturday, April 18 with kick-off at 3pm at Greenwich Avenue.
