SINGER-SONGWRITER Bill Bates is tuning up for a free concert as part of the Warwick Folk Festival.
The concert will feature songs from Bill’s album Madhouse, written and recorded in support of Myton Hospice. So far, the project has raised £1,400 for the charity.
It takes place at the Unitarian Chapel opposite the historic Lord Leycester Hospital in High Street on Saturday July 25, from 3.30pm.
The performance has added significance for Bill and his wife, Louise. They recently visited Myton Hospice for the first time since their son, Matthew, died there almost ten years ago.
Bill said: “Returning to Myton brought back so many memories, but it also reminded us of the extraordinary care and compassion the staff showed our family during the most difficult time of our lives. Raising money through music feels like a small way of saying thank you.”
Madhouse is a collection of original songs that reflect life’s challenges, humour, resilience and hope. Every CD sold helps support the vital work of Myton Hospice, although Bill stresses there is absolutely no obligation for concert-goers to make a purchase.
“I simply want people to come along, enjoy an afternoon of live music and, if they leave with a smile, that’s enough for me.”
