A CENTRE offering support and advice to victims of sexual assault has seen 131 children in its first year.
The Blue Sky Centre has also helped 21 men and 123 women since opening in March last year.
Manager Tony Mumford said: “Our first-year figures highlight the fact rape and sexual assault is an issue that can affect not only women, but also men, children and young people.”
The Blue Sky Centre serves victims from Coventry and Warwickshire, and is in the grounds of the George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton.
It was set up in a partnership between councils, police, the NHS and voluntary organisations, and is open 24-hours a day and staffed by specially trained workers.
Around a third of adult clients referred themselves to the centre with others referred there by police and other agencies.
None are put under pressure to report incidents to police, but it has the facilities to store potential evidence should they wish to in the future.
