Rugby Food Festival: town fed 'til it wants no more

FARMERS, brewers, growers and bakers broke ‘Bread of Heaven’ with Rugbeians on the weekend that Wales shocked England in the Rugby World Cup.

The Rugby Food and Drink Festival slotted seamlessly into the ongoing Enjoy Rugby Festival to provide locals, tourists, rugger fans and everyone in between with some well-earned refreshment.

A Farmers’ Market came to Market Place on Thursday (September 24), where – with a soundtrack provided by musicians Andy Smith and Andrew Rackham – visitors treated themselves to cakes, cheeses, meats, fish, fudge, honey, jams, olives, ciders, breads, real ales and more.

On Friday (September 25) the Rugby Village in Old Market Place hosted the first ever Rugby Drinks Festival, where local breweries showcased some favourites along with new, special and commemorative brews.

Food Fayres filled St Andrew’s Church gardens on Saturday and Sunday (September 26 and 27), where freshly-made

food and drink from local businesses, farms and producers were served up alongside a real ale bar and a pop-up demonstration kitchen.

Our photographers were on hand at the Drinks Festival and the first Food Fayre. See if they captured you on camera!
