Donations add colour to Rugby hospital

GRATEFUL staff from St Cross Hospital thanked the hard work and dedication of a local charity group for a number of much-needed donations.

The team from the Mulberry Ward gathered to show their appreciation for the donations from the Friends of St Cross charity group – hoping to make a real difference to the patient rehabilitation experience on the Oak and Mulberry wards.

The ward itself has recently been redecorated with a mural on the walls.

The mural was funded by the Friends of St Cross and has transformed the ward into the ideal spot for patients to enjoy arts, reminiscence and afternoon tea with ward staff members.

The donations have also helped create an ‘Artie Art Cart’ which visits wards weekly, offering patients something creative to do during a hospital stay. Painting, embroidery and sketching equipment will be given to patients for free and able to take home after they are discharged.

Staff were also happy to receive new equipment to help when patients are at risk of falling. The ‘falls tabs’ can be placed on seats and alerts staff if a patient at risk of falling attempts to get up unaided. The friends have also supplied similar devices for use in hospital beds.

Clare Noden, Ward Manager for Oak Ward said: “We are so grateful for all the support we receive from the community through the Friends of St Cross. These gifts make a great difference for both patients, as well as the staff, on the wards.”
