THE POLICE watchdog is seeking witnesses after a patrol car hit a pedestrian in Rugby on Monday.
The marked police car struck a woman, believed to be in her 20s, close to the junction of Dunchurch Road and Overslade Lane, shortly after 12:15pm.
The woman remains in a critical condition in hospital.
An investigation has been launched by the Independent Police Complaints Commission. Specialist experts from West Midlands Police have also been called in to conduct a parallel collision investigation.
On Tuesday, IPCC investigators conducted house-to-house inquiries, collected CCTV footage and data from the police vehicle, and identified witnesses. Investigators are also keen to speak to the driver of a lorry which was in the area at the time of the incident.

The patrol car was responding to an emergency call on the A45 Stretton on Dunsmore. The police officer who was driving was not injured.
The crash scene was cordoned off for more than four hours following the incident.
