A MAN has suffered “potentially life-changing” head injuries after being assaulted near a local convenience store in Rugby.
Police were called to the incident close to the Spar store on the junction of Boughton Road and Seymour Road at around 11:30pm on Wednesday (March 30).
It is thought two men were involved assaulting and robbing the victim and before leaving the scene in a black vehicle, believed to be a Volkswagen Golf.
The victim, a man in his twenties, was taken to University Hospital Coventry for treatment where he remains in a serious condition. He is currently being treated for swelling to his brain.
Detective Inspector Jon Belcher said: “This appears to be a particularly nasty incident where the victim has sustained potentially life-changing injuries.
“Due to his condition, the victim is currently unable to tell us what has happened to him. At this stage we are working to establish the full circumstances and I ask anyone who can provide any information to help us to please come forward”.
A 28-year-old man from Rugby has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been bailed until mid-April.
