A FATAL crash on the M6 near Rugby claimed the life of a motorcyclist – a man in his 30s – on Wednesday afternoon (September 15).

A silver Vauxhall Zafira, a white Renault Trafic and a green Kawasaki motorcycle collided on the southbound carriageway of the M6 between junction one and the Catthorpe interchange just before 1pm.

Two ambulances, a paramedic area support officer, a community paramedic and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance with a doctor on board attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Upon assessment by ambulance staff the motorcyclist was found to be in cardiac arrest.

“The team of ambulance staff immediately commenced advanced life support on scene and continued resuscitation efforts in the land ambulance en route to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

“Sadly, despite the best efforts of ambulance staff and hospital medics, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead in hospital.”

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision. Call Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting incident 198 of September 14.
