A FATAL crash closed a stretch of the M6 near Rugby this morning (Tuesday October 4).
The motorway has now reopened after a white Mercedes Sprinter van and a blue Mercedes Box van collided just before 5am on the southbound carriageway between junctions one (Rugby) and two (Coventry).
Emergency services found the driver of the Sprinter, a man in his 60s, had gone into cardiac arrest and died at the scene. The driver of the Mercedes Box Van was not injured.
Officers investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it or saw either of the vehicles, and the manner in which they were being driven, before the collision occurred.
