A PILE-up on the M6 this morning left a man lying in the road with critical injuries after he was thrown from his vehicle.
A red DAF lorry, a white MAN lorry, a silver Ford Mondeo, a silver Mercedes saloon, a black VW Beetle and a white Toyota IQ2 collided south of Junction 2 at about 5.30am today (Thursday December 22).
The motorway, which was closed southbound for several hours, has now reopened.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said there was debris across both carriageways when ambulances arrived.
A man in his 40s was found lying semi-conscious in the southbound carriageway with multiple serious injuries. He was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire where he is in a critical condition.
A man in his 30s suffered hand injuries and was taken to the same hospital.
