KICKBOXING: TEENAGER Corey-Ellis Judge has been crowned a world champion kickboxer after taking up the sport just four years ago.
The Rugby College sports student is on top of the world after being crowned winner of the 65kg category at the World Fight Sport and Martial Arts Council World Championships in Manchester.
The 16-year-old, from Rugby, is currently in the first year of his Level 2 Sport course and took up kickboxing after breaking his knee when he was 11.
Since then Judge has risen through the ranks, winning inter-club tournaments, regional and British titles before his success in Manchester.
“Winning the Worlds was a real achievement – I was pretty chuffed to say the least,” said Corey, who trains with Rugby School of Kickboxing and G Force Martial Arts.
“I train six days a week and that hard work all paid off. In the future I would like to move to MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) and UFC, and maybe go into personal training too.
“I currently teach kids aged 4-13 and also take adult fitness classes, which I really enjoy, and means I can apply what I learn at college straight away.
“Martial arts is great for young people – it teaches you all about respect and discipline – I’m even teaching my nephew, Ellis!”
