A FORMER Rugby School pupil and emerging artist has been named as one of the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire.

Khadija Saye, 24, died in the fire alongside her mother Mary in the 20th-floor flat where they both lived.

A promising photographer, Khadija has been described as being ‘on the cusp of recognition’ in the art community, and her work has been on display in Venice.

She left the prestigious school six years ago, having gained her place on a scholarship scheme.

Rugby School chaplain Rev Richard Horner paid tribute to Khadija during a chapel service dedicated to the victims, their families and all those affected by the London disaster.

Her photography teacher, Amy Farrelly, added: “Khadija was a humble and unassuming spirit who was making a difference in her own community.

“She was incredibly empathetic to others and she was one of my most talented students in her year.”

Khadija was the second confirmed victim of the fire.

She was due to feature in BBC2 documentary Venice Biennale: Sink or Swim on Saturday (June 24), but a BBC spokeswoman said the programme would not be shown “for obvious reasons”.
