Giant mystery maze celebrates world's most famous detective

Rugby Editorial 12th Jul, 2017   0

A FAR-from-elementary mystery awaits visitors to a giant maze in the shape of the world’s most famous detective.

To mark the 130th anniversary of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s first Sherlock Holmes novel, the eight-acre Wistow Maze has been redesigned in the shape of the pipe-smoking sleuth.

The giant maize maze – which attracts over 20,000 visitors each year – is redesigned each year using GPS satellite technology, and at the end of the season is cut down and fed to the cows.

This year, explorers can put their own detective skills to the test by finding clues hidden among the three miles of pathways, to help solve a whodunnit mystery.

The maze will be open every day from Wednesday (July 19) to Sunday September 3, and then on weekends only until Sunday September 17. Visit www.wistow.com or call 07884 403889 for more information.
