Vandal risked life to graffiti trains at DIRFT

Rugby Editorial 13th Sep, 2017 Updated: 13th Sep, 2017   0

A TRESPASSER at DIRFT (Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal) risked death or injury to spray graffiti on trains.

Police believe the culprit climbed over metal fencing and walked along the railway track at around 1.20am on Saturday August 26.

A number of goods trains in the sidings were painted with the word ‘yout’.

The vandal is described as white, around 6ft tall, was wearing a black North Face jacket and black skinny jeans, and was carrying a lightweight North Face logo bag.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, or who recognises the person pictured.

Officers reminded the public of the dangers of walking along railway tracks, where there are countless hazards including high voltage overhead lines and high speed trains.

In June, 11-year-old Harrison Ballantyne from Crick died at the rail terminal near Kilsby after he was electrocuted by an overhead line.

Anyone with information about the graffiti incident, or any trespassers on railway lines, can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
