A THREE-lorry crash on the M6 near Rugby this morning left an injured driver trapped in his cab.

Ambulances were called to the motorway between junction one and the Catthorpe interchange just after 10am this morning (Tuesday September 26).

Ambulance staff and firefighters built a platform to allow paramedics to treat the trapped driver, a man believed to be in his 40s.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Following an initial assessment of the man, the fire service cut away parts of the cab to give crews space to work inside and treat him.

“The man, who was treated for a lower leg injury and an abdominal injury, was freed from the cab before being transported to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment.”

No-one else was injured. The southbound carriageway was closed throughout the morning.
