THERE was plenty of Christmas cheer at the Benn Partnership Centre in Rugby.
A free Christmas Day event was hosted for people in the town who were facing the day alone.
The Wilde’s family brass band played carols as guests enjoyed a festive meal along with games and other entertainment.
The major costs were funded by Cemex, together with other donations from Tesco, Asda, and festive-minded members of the public.
MP Mark Pawsey also collected table decorations from Bunzl Catering Supplies and delivered them in person to the BPC.
The event was staffed by volunteers including Mayor Belinda Garcia and her consort Paco Garcia, who volunteered to be chef for the day.
Organisers also offered thanks to Rugby Elim Church, Petals 4 U, Nick Shergold, Mitchells Potatoes, Hazel Townsend, and the volunteer drivers who offered free transport to guests.
A Benn Partnership spokesman said: “Everybody thoroughly enjoyed the fun packed day and participated in all the games and activities organised, which included a Christmas gift for all guests.
“The trustees would like to thank all the fantastic volunteers who supported and helped organise a very successful event, the organisations and individuals for their invaluable support by giving generous donations and the Rugby Observer and Rugby Advertiser for their pre-Christmas advertising of the event.
“Without everyone’s help and support, none of this would have been possible. It was great to share the happiness and good will of Christmas with everyone present.”
