Creativity runs wild at Big Rugby Takeover Day

CREATIVE minds were set free at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum at the Big Rugby Takeover Day.

The doors were thrown open at the Little Elborow Street venue for visitors to have fun and explore Rugby’s history as part of the BBC’s annual Get Creative Festival.

The town’s heritage took centre stage during the takeover, as visitors were given the chance to draw and create models of Rugby’s landmark buildings and learn about the town’s historical heroes.

Other activities included a ‘hands-on’ history of photography, including the chance to dress up in costume and snap a selfie, and a giant wall installation where visitors could contribute drawings and words celebrating living in Rugby.

And Jason Moss brought the Rugby FM roadshow to the Takeover Day to join in the fun.

The BBC’s annual Get Creative Festival aims to encourage everyone to have a go at arts and crafts via over 1,000 free events.

Rugby Borough Council growth and investment spokeswoman Coun Heather Timms said: “As the town’s cultural hub, Rugby Art Gallery and Museum plays a leading role in promoting and developing the arts, encouraging residents to get involved and try new activities.

“The Big Rugby Takeover Day was a great opportunity to get creative and discover more about the town we live in.”
