Tories strengthen grip on Rugby Borough Council in local elections

THE CONSERVATIVES strengthened their majority on Rugby Borough Council following the local election.

A third of the 42 seats were up for grabs on Thursday and both the Tories and Liberal Democrats gained a seat each. The Tories took two Independent seats and the Liberal Democrats took a Tory seat.

It means the Conservatives now hold 24 of the 42 council seats, followed by Labour and the Liberal Democrats who each have nine.
