Cyclist geared up for London-to-Paris round trip in aid of disability charity

A CYCLIST will ride from the Tower of London to the Eiffel Tower and back to help disabled people use the internet safely.

Craig Pattison will cover 360 miles in just 48 hours later this month to raise money for New Directions.

The Rugby-based charity will use the money raised to buy specialist equipment for disabled people to access the internet safely for everyday tasks, use online services and socialise with family and friends.

His journey will start on Friday May 25 when he will cycle 65 miles from the London landmark to Newhaven, from where he will take the overnight ferry to Dieppe at 11pm. He aims to arrive at the Eiffel Tower at 4pm on May 26, having covered 115 miles.

On Sunday May 27, he will depart from the Arc de Triomphe, return on the ferry from Dieppe and arrive back at the Tower of London at around 12pm on May 28, having covered the 360 mile round trip.

Craig said: “New Directions is a charity that is close to my in-laws. My father-in-law Peter Jenkins is one of the Trustees at the charity and his mother worked there years ago.

“I never had the chance to meet Peter’s mother so I wanted to give something to this charity in my own way.”
