Two charged after man found with head wound in Hillmorton

TWO people have been charged after a man was injured in Hillmorton on Saturday afternoon (June 16).

Armed police rushed to School Street at around 3.15pm in response to reports a man had been shot in the head.

The man was found with a head wound but officers, who found a gun at the scene, now believe the victim was hit on the head.

He was taken to hospital and his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Peter Ellery, 30, of Railway Terrace has been charged with affray, criminal damage, two counts of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and possessing an imitation firearm in a public place.

And Kristy Perkins, 34, of School Street was charged with affray, criminal damage, and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

They both appeared at Warwickshire Magistrates Court on Monday June 18.

Superintendent Emma Bastone said: “We do not believe the firearm was discharged and we believe the injured man suffered his injuries after being struck on the head.

“Incidents of this nature are incredibly rare in the town and we responded quickly and appropriately to ensure the safety of the public.”
