Rugby Neighbourhood Watch boosted by police grant

Rugby Editorial 1st Jul, 2018   0

NEIGHBOURHOOD Watch’s Rugby branch is among three in Warwickshire to be given a funding boost by the county’s police chief.

Praising Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) as a vital way for communities to assist police in detecting and deterring crime, Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Seccombe has awarded more than £5,000 to local schemes.

Rugby Borough NHW received a grant of £1,850 to support its core funding.

Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Seccombe said: “The work that these groups do is invaluable, so it was an easy decision to support them with funding when their applications came in for my grants scheme.

“Warwickshire has a great deal of dedicated volunteers helping to make Neighbourhood Watch schemes a success. They are a great way to bring communities together to make a positive contribution to crime reduction, as well as providing valuable additional eyes and ears for the police.

“I’m keen to encourage the development of new schemes and the use of new technology to help enable people to easily share information.”

Elsewhere, North Warwickshire NHW Association was given £2,205 to help raise awareness of crime prevention, and Nuneaton North East NHW Association received £1,000 to fund its quarterly newsletters.
