A ‘SCHOOL of Rock’ in Rugby which provided the soundtrack to this year’s Rotary Spring Fair has banked a windfall from the event’s organisers.
Rugby Area Talent Trust (RATT) is the first of the local charities and youth groups who attended the fair to receive a share of over £14,000 raised at the event.
RATT organised six hours of live music on the Arena Stage and in the RATT Space, performed by 20 aspiring artists.
Founder and trustee David Head said: “We had a great time at the fair and this donation will enable us to run a workshop for our young performers, covering such things as stagecraft, audience interaction, working with technicians, working with other artists, presentation techniques and so on.
“This will really serve to improve performances further as well as enhance confidence, communication skills and character in young people.”
Laurence Wilbraham, lead project manager for this year’s Rotary Spring Fair, said: “Thanks to sponsorship from ASDA and Hinckley & Rugby Building Society we were able to underwrite the costs of staging the excellent RATT performances.
“We expect that approximately 25 local organisations will benefit from the proceeds of the fair over the coming months and I am sure they will join me in thanking all those who supported it and came along to enjoy a fabulous day.”
