Fun day pulls in funds for life-saving equipment

FUN was the order of the day at the Featherbed Recreation Ground in Hillmorton.

Sumo suits clashed and ropes were tugged at a fund-raiser organised by Friends of East Rugby Group (FERG).

Two pubs were supported by a vocal crowd as they battled it out in a tug of war. The Jolly Abbott fought valiantly but were pipped to the post by the Paddox Pub – with the ‘B Team’ the ultimate winners.

The day pulled in over £900 towards a life-saving defibrillator expected to cost around £1,500.

FERG chair Jim Ellis said: “I wanted to let the whole community know how brilliant they are. Thank you.

“And a special thanks also goes to The Stag and Pheasant, The Red Lion and the Bell Pubs for additional support in fundraising.

“FERG will be looking to work with the British Heart Foundation and First Responders to best allocate and place a unit in the near future.”
