Drink driver who pulled up in fast lane of motorway banned

A DRUNK driver who stopped his car in the fast lane of a motorway and fell asleep has been banned from driving.

William James was found asleep in his car on lane two of the M69 southbound, close to the start of the A46 near Wolvey, at around 12.45am on Monday August 27.

The 24-year-old of Queens Road, Hinckley was found to be nearly three times over the drink drive limit when he was breathalysed in custody.

He was found guilty of drink driving at Warwickshire Magistrates’ Court on Monday September 10.

He was disqualified from driving, issued a community order and ordered to pay £135 in costs.

PC Wilton from Warwickshire Police said: “James’ vehicle was found parked in the middle of a live motorway, at a time of darkness.

“His actions were extremely dangerous and it is incredibly fortunate that the outcome of this incident was not far more devastating.”
