Sweet-natured bakers raise hundreds at Macmillan coffee morning

SWEET-natured Rugbeians rose to the occasion and made hundreds by selling cakes for Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday (September 28).

The inclusion team at Avon Valley School raised over £150 at a staff room coffee morning when they served up cakes and sweet treats to their colleagues.

Head teacher Alison Davies said: “Once again this year we’re pleased to have been able to support a very worthy charity while enjoying a cup of coffee and slice of cake. I’d like to say well done to our inclusion team for organising a successful and enjoyable event.”

Staff and residents at Overslade House Care Home in Rugby held a charity coffee morning, raising £115.




General manager Violeta Baesu said: “Holding our own Macmillan coffee morning has been a huge amount of fun and everyone at the home is always keen to support this fantastic charity in any way we can.

“We are very glad to be able to do our bit to raise further awareness and money for the charity.”


Students at Harris Church of England Academy raised £260 at their bake sale. A spokeswoman said staff were very proud of all students who took part.

Macmillan’s first ever Coffee Morning was a simple event that took place in 1990. Since then the events have raised over £200million for Macmillan.
