THE BATTLE for a prestigious 120-year-old golf trophy took place at Ullesthorpe Golf Club.
The club was privileged to host the prestigious Goodyear Challenge for 2018.
The ornate Goodyear Challenge Cup is among the oldest trophies still being played for in ladies’ golf.
The valuable trophy was donated to The Leicestershire Golf Club in 1897 by JW Janson of Northampton, with the proviso it was played for by the ladies of Leicestershire and Rutland, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire.
From the 42 players who took part, Ullesthorpe Golf Club Lady President Elaine Watkins won, with Maggie Turton coming second.
