FLOODING caused by a burst water pipe closed off Leicester Road in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday October 23).
Police closed the northbound stretch of road from the Avon Mill roundabout up to the traffic lights next to Junction One Retail Park, saying the road was “simply unpassable”.
By around 3am, Severn Trent engineers had stopped the pipe from leaking by isolating it where it had burst.
One lane of traffic remained closed throughout the morning while engineers worked to fix the pipe.
