Rugby Borough march on

Rugby Editorial 22nd Nov, 2018   0

THE RUGBY Borough bandwagon marched on last Saturday with a 4-0 victory over Cottesmore.

It’s all too early at this stage of the season to call Borough will finish at the end of the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division campaign, but boss Ady Fuller is pleased with his troops.

“Cottesmore have been on a run of six games unbeaten and had recently signed players from Spalding United – a Step Five team – so it was never going to be easy.

“My lads acquitted themselves well and put on a great performance to run out comfortable winners.”

The game started at pace and it was Borough who camped themselves in the Cottesmore half, Brandon Oddy being the instigator of most attacks.

A great move from Borough completely opened up the Cottesmore defence and an attack on 27 minutes gave them the lead.

Sam Beasley steamed down the left and some good interplay from Tommy Glasscoe and Ryan Byrne saw the later cross to Josh Turton who timed his run perfectly to nod home his fourth goal in as many games.

Borough went into the break with a slender lead after missing a number of chances.

Jamie Paye made it 2-0 after 54 minutes before Brandon Oddy made it 3-0 ten minutes later.

Just after the hour mark Borough completed their scoring through Olly Chater who swept home from Thomas Glascoe’s cross.

Borough play host to Ellistown on Saturday.
