A CHARITY’S work to help the homeless in Rugby this winter has been boosted by a £2,500 donation from a local housebuilder.
Help the Homeless Rugby received the windfall from CALA Homes’ Community Bursary to help provide much-needed supplies for rough sleepers and destitute people.
The CALA Community Bursary was launched earlier this year and invited organisations, charities and groups in Rugby to apply to help fund projects which make an important difference in the community.
The charity, whose unpaid volunteers provide practical advice, support, clothing, equipment and hot meals to vulnerable people, will use the money for kitchen supplies, care packages and food parcels for the homeless.
The charity’s founder and lead organiser Max Anstey said: “We are thrilled to have received funding from CALA Homes and this donation will go a long way towards supporting the work we do.
“From serving hot food at our kitchen, to issuing care packages to those who have been able to secure housing, our services are vital to the vulnerable members of the community in Rugby.
“Our aim for the future is to continue to provide far-reaching support, helping to empower destitute people for them to regain control over their lives.”
Mark Wright, Managing Director for CALA Homes Midlands, comments: “We were extremely impressed by the invaluable service that is provided by Help the Homeless Rugby, and the selfless work of its hardworking volunteers.
“We are pleased that our funding will contribute to the expansion of services to the vulnerable members of the community across Rugby for many years to come.”
