CHRISTMAS presents are being lines up for Rugby’s homeless people thanks to employees at a local company.
Staff at construction law firm Yelland Savage have been wrapping gifts on the ‘wish list’ of Rugby homelessness charity Hope 4 for up to 90 homeless and badly housed Rugbeians.
The gifts range from the functional – such as torches, radios, manicure sets, combs and Vaseline pots – to Christmas must-haves like selection packs, candy canes and chocolate coins.
Staff spent a day individually wrapping and personally addressing the gifts.
The Castle Street company’s director Morwenna Crichton said she was determined to brighten Christmas for the local homeless and badly housed.
She said: “We have witnessed first-hand the marvellous work that Hope 4 do for our local homeless and badly housed people and we are determined to help in any way we can.
“We have assisted with the food collection and made cash donations, but we wanted to do something really personal for the clients this year.
“Christmas for most of us is a happy time surrounded by family and friends, but for some it is lonely and filled with insecurity. It is important to us to do our bit and try and make the period as nice as possible for those affected.”
Gift vouchers giving Rugby’s homeless a hot shower (£5), a week of hot meals (£10) or a winter survival kit (£20) can be bought from town centre businesses The Bank Bar and Restaurant, Eliza Doolittle children’s outfitters, or Essensuals hair salon.
Alternatively, donations can be made by texting 70070 with the words ‘HOPE 34’ plus the amount of donation (5 or 10).
