Kind Rebecca takes to streets to give gifts to the homeless

A KIND-hearted woman has walked the town’s streets in the freezing cold to hand out donated gifts to the homeless, and get a taste of what it is like to be homeless during the winter.

Rebecca Orr handed out winter packages containing hand warmers, socks, scarves, hats, sanitary items and snacks to those living on the streets and in cars around Rugby.

The items were all donated by members of the public after she launched an appeal on social media.

Rebecca, a coach at WW Wellness, also helped to collect over 300 tupperware boxes and 100 sporks – requested by Rugby’s homelessness charity Hope4 to allow the homeless to eat at its centre and take food with them for the rest of the day.

After being approached by the charity, Rebecca asked WW – formally known as Weight Watchers – and members for their help.

Hope4 key worker Tobi Tomlinson-Sylvest said: “When asked, the homeless people in Rugby said that would love containers for food to take with them and a spork to eat it with.

“We asked WW Rugby as they have worked with us in the past and the response has been overwhelming. The company sent 100 new containers and the members donated more.

“The monetary donations received paid for 100 sporks, and we now have enough for the whole year.”
